Colombia
Colombia is located in the North Western part of South America and is the fourth largest country in the continent after Brazil, Argentina and Peru.
Like the rest of the American continent, the original inhabitants of Colombia were the native American tribes. However, after the Spanish conquest in 1499, their population was gradually decimated.
Colombia along with Venezuela, Ecuador and Panama won its independence from Spain in 1819, but by 1830, Venezuala and Ecuador formed separate countries. Panama seceded from Colombia in 1903. The country has 2 major political parties - the liberal and conservative parties.
